Two people were killed and 20 injured outside a rap concert in Hialeah, Florida, early Sunday morning (May 30), according to a report by the Miami Herald. Three of the wounded victims are currently in critical condition. The incident took place just outside of Miami in the El Mula Banquet Hall parking lot. The event space is located in the Country Club Shopping Center in northwest Miami-Dade County. According to police, the venue was rented out for an album release party on Saturday night. The concert included performances by local acts such as rapper ABMG Spitta. Pitchfork has contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department for more information.
The shooting began after midnight this morning, Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez III confirmed to the Miami Herald. Ramirez claimed some concert goers were outside the El Mula banquet hall when a white Nissan Pathfinder pulled into the parking lot. Three unidentified people with handguns and assault rifles reportedly got out of the SUV and shot into the crowd. Ramirez told the Herald that they shot “indiscriminately” and that the police found hundreds of cartridges while inspecting the crime scene.
Authorities told the Herald that the incident is one of the largest mass shootings in Miami-Dade County’s recent history. Police currently have no description of the three attackers and have asked anyone with information about the shooting or the shooters to call 305-471-8477.
