ABC’s Wonder Years reboot pilot adds Dulé Hill as a family patriarch

Just two weeks after ABC found two of its key cast members, ABC’s pilot relaunched the hit sitcom The wonderful years has further expanded its main list with the additions from Dulé Hill (Ballers, Psych) and Laura Kariuki (Black Lightning) by type.

The single-camera comedy is being developed by Saladin Patterson (Dave), Lee Daniels (rich) and original series star Fred Savage and will shift focus from the world of the Arnolds in the late 80s to the Williamses, a middle-class black family in Montgomery, Alabama, in the turbulent 60s that worked hard to make sure it was the Time for them too, the miracle years.

Patterson and Savage are co-producing the project with Daniels and Marc Velez through their Lee Daniels Entertainment production banner, while Neal Marlens, co-creator of the original series, will act as advisor. 20. Television is the studio for the project.

The original Wonder years ran from 1988-1993. Co-created by Marlens and Carol Black, the Golden Globe and Emmy comedy drama starring Fred Savage, Dan Lauria, Alley Mills, Olivia d’Abo, Jason Hervey, Danica McKellar and Josh Saviano and was narrated by Daniel Stern.
