A few weeks ago Kanye got in touch that I was part of the Donda album. I was inspired by his idea of paying musical homage to his mother. It seemed appropriate to me to support the Donda concept by referring to my own mother, who died in 2013. We both share this loss. I thought it would be a nice decision to make a clean album, but unfortunately I didn’t know that was the plan before I wrote and recorded my verse. It was clear to me that an edited “clean” format of the verse would not work without the raw original also being available. So unfortunately I had to be left out of the original album release.
The track I received and wrote on didn’t have the Diss Verse and we were hoping to have a more focused offer on the Donda album, but I think things are going the way they should. It’s unfortunate that it was released this way and two artists I love go back and forth. I also wanted to be with Certified Lover Boy. I just want to work with people who inspire me. Hopefully I can work with Kendrick on his album. I would love to work with Lil ‘Baby, Tyler, and Jay-Z. I respect them all.
