ComingSoon editor-in-chief Tyler Treese spoke with He is everything Stars Annie Jacob and Isabella Crovetti on the subject of romantic comedy and how excited they were to be part of the spiritual successor.

Tyler Treese: Annie, your character is one of Cameron’s real friends, and your chemistry with Tanner is so great in the movie. Did you start it naturally or how did you get that chemistry with him?

Annie Jacob: It was a lot of hard work. Lots of acting. No i’m just kidding. Tanner is so great. When we first met while reading chemistry, I thought this kid was cool. We got along. Then we met via video chat, and then we just started FaceTiming and texted each other all the time. He’s just an easy going boy. It wasn’t difficult at all. I could make fun of him in real life and pretend we were filming it. It was great.

Isabella, there’s a really cool Great Gatsby party in the movie. How fun was it to dress in these clothes?

Isabella Crovetti: So much fun. It took a lot of work, as much as sitting on the makeup chair for hours, but when everything was done it was so beautiful and it was so cool. Because you felt like you were part of that time and all of that. Especially the costume that was added with the set was so much fun. It was so cool.

Annie, were you a fan of the original She’s All That? Or was that something you checked after the engagement?

Jacob: I watched it after I got involved. I’d heard a lot about it because it was on TV all the time and Freddie Prinze Jr. [is a] The great actress Rachael Leigh Cook looked great. So I saw clips and it was really great. I’m not a big rom-com guy. I don’t always have the time to sit down and watch rom-coms, but when I heard about this movie I just thought I was watching the whole thing and thought, yes! Then suddenly I felt the pressure to be good.

Crovetti: Yes! Oh no. So much pressure.

Isabella, the movie has such an important and relevant message about social media and the importance of being yourself rather than spreading that persona. What does it mean to be part of a film with such a big message?

Crovetti: It really means a lot to me. Because that’s what I always thought before the actual film. As if I didn’t just want to see the film [and] was like, “Oh yeah, that’s pretty important. I should talk about it. “The way I thought it would. I’ve been thinking that for a very long time. I have a feeling as long as you are yourself, people will totally relate to you. Because I am just yourself, have I feel like everyone has this weird, crazy side, so if you let this show, even if it sounds a little cheesy, I think it’s pretty important. So I like that we made a movie about it and I do may be there.

Annie, it’s always great to see LGBT plus representation, and it happens so seamlessly in the movie. What did this role mean for you?

Jacob: It was an honor for me. I really wanted to make sure it was as authentic as possible. As a person of Indian descent, I was just excited to take this representation forward. [As far as] Since I’m in the LGBTQ community, I’m not myself. My really good friend Kelly Quindlen writes really popular LGBTQ novels for young adults. She has been a really good friend to me throughout the process. As if I were just writing photos of things to her and saying, “Hey, I don’t want to be stereotypical. Am I cool? “Is it okay if I like what, what can I do? She just said,” Great, you’re doing great. You’re doing great because it’s really just one person [who is attracted to another person]. “It was great to be authentic that way.
