Beastie Boys’ Mike D is auctioning some of his Beastie Boys memorabilia for charity, including platinum billboards and an MTV Video Music Award for the group’s short film “Intergalactic”. See more below and check out the items on offer here.
The rapper’s mother, Hester Diamond, had previously owned the trophies – he said in an Instagram post that he always gave her the awards, but she passed away in 2020. “I’ve never felt comfortable holding on or holding onto check out these awards we’ve received over the years,” he wrote on Instagram.
Proceeds will go to the Good Eats program, which provides free weekend meals to children with food insecurity. In addition to her son’s souvenirs, Hester Diamond had her own large art collection valued at $ 30 million, which was auctioned late last year. In 2020, Beastie Boys released a career retrospective album, documentary, and photo book of the greatest hits.
