BTS shared a statement in support of #StopAsianHate and #StopAAPIHate tonight, sharing their experiences with racism and discrimination. The K-pop stars discussed their “sadness and anger”, alluding to the Atlanta shootings earlier this month and the general rise in violence against Asian Americans. “We stand against racial discrimination,” they wrote. “We condemn violence. You, me and we all have the right to be respected. We’ll stand together. “Read the full statement below.
“We remember moments when we were discriminated against as Asians,” they wrote. “We endured explosives for no reason and were mocked for what we look like. We were even asked why Asians speak in English. “They continued:
We cannot put into words the pain of becoming the object of hatred and violence for such a reason. Our own experiences are unimportant compared to the events of the last few weeks. But those experiences were enough to make us feel powerless and destroy our self-esteem. What is happening right now cannot be separated from our identity as Asians.
