BTS label Big Hit Entertainment is about to change its name to HYBE Corporation, Variety and Billboard Report, and Pitchfork can attest to this. Founded in 2005 by CEO Bang Si-hyuk (also known as Hitman Bang), the company has grown into one of the most powerful players in the South Korean entertainment industry due to the success of the seven-piece boy band. It went public on the Korean Stock Exchange last year. A representative from Big Hit Entertainment confirmed the eventual name change to Pitchfork.
BTS currently accounts for the majority of Big Hit’s sales. The move to HYBE Corporation allegedly precedes planned expansions in industries outside of music such as communications, travel and real estate. The change will reportedly be discussed at a general meeting in late March.
BTS will perform at the 2021 Grammy Awards this Sunday March 14th. Other artists are Bruno Mars and Anderson. Paak, Cardi B, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles and many more.
