Children of corn is a long-running series of films, all from a well-received adaptation by Steven King in 1984. Almost a decade after that original release, it became a staple of direct video, producing seven sequels, a television movie adaptation and reboot, and now a nostalgic prequel / remake in 2021.

The prequel, too, entitled Children of corn and directed by Kurt Wimmer, which premiered in a limited theatrical release last October but didn’t attract too much attention at the time. The film is now being launched in the home media for a wider audience, and producers ANVL Entertainment have deemed it appropriate to release a number of new screenshots from the film to tease this later release.

If the film has gained notoriety, it’s the headlines it received from continuing filming in 2020 despite the global pandemic. Wimmer and his crew recorded the final takes of the film on the outskirts of Sydney, Australia, late last year, taking great precautions because of the health risk for everyone involved.

Producer Lucas Foster expanded this in talks with Deadline when production was shut down. “In the end, we took hundreds of actions. We didn’t trust it all. Instead, we’ve broken down each scene individually. Night. Day. Crowds. Inside rooms. And so on, evaluation of various levels of risk. “
