CS Video: Co-Writer Adele Lim & Producer Osnat Shurer Talk Raya and the Last Dragon
Before its release on Friday, ComingSoon.net spoke to co-writer Adele Lim and co-producer Osnat Shurer about Disney’s latest animated adventure Raya and the last dragon. The duo discussed how the world around them inspired the story, including their observations of the division in the world, and said the entire team knew that the film should be about coming together for the common good. They also share the need to find out what it means to “work together and be with your differences and celebrate differences rather than root them out”. Shurer and Lim also talk about trust, environmental issues, and more about what the characters and lands shared mean to Raya’s journey.
The film is scheduled for release in theaters and on Disney + Premier Access this Friday, March 5th. You can now watch our interviews in the player below!

Long ago, humans and dragons lived together in harmony in the fantasy world of Kumandra. But when an evil force threatened the land, the dragons sacrificed themselves to save humanity. Now, 500 years later, the same evil has returned and it is up to a lone warrior, Raya, to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the broken land and its divided people. On her journey, however, she will learn that it takes more than a dragon to save the world – it will also require trust and teamwork.
Raya and the last dragon is led by Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Raya, who will be the first Southeast Asian woman to direct a Disney animated film. Tran plays alongside Awkwafina (The good bye) who pronounces the dragon named Sisu.
