Disney is currently in early development on a sequel to the recently released film, according to a recent report by The Hollywood Reporter. Director Craig Gillespie and screenwriter Tony McNamara are expected to return for the film, although it is not known if Stone will repeat her role as Cruella de Vil.

“We are very happy with Cruellas Box office success combined with the strong performance of Disney + Premier Access so far, ”a Disney spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter. “The film was incredibly well received by viewers around the world, with a 97% viewer score on Rotten Tomatoes in addition to one in each CinemaScore demographic on the opening weekend, making it one of our most popular live-action re-interpretations. We look forward to a long time as the audience will continue to enjoy this fantastic film. “

After debuting in theaters and on Disney + at the same time, Cruella was a huge hit for Disney, all in all. The film grossed $ 48.5 million worldwide and received great reviews for its cast and character, so it’s not too surprising that Disney is already planning a future sequel.

Disney’s Cruella is led by I, Tonya Filmmaker Craig Gillespie based on a script by Dana Fox and Tony McNamara, based on a story by Aline Brosh McKenna and Kelly Marcel & Steve Zissis. It is produced by original Cruella actress Glenn Close with producers Emma Stone, Michelle Wright, Jared LeBoff, Andrew Gunn, Marc Platt and Kristin Burr. Two-time Oscar-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan (Mad Max: Fury Road) creates the dazzling and imaginative costumes that develop a life of their own.
