DC’s Shazam! Anger of the Gods adds Helen Mirren as the villain!
The cast for David F. Sandberg’s highly anticipated sequel to his DC Extended Universe hit takes on Oscar-winning Helen Mirren (Hobbs & Shaw0 has joined the cast of Shazam! Anger of the gods in the role of the villain after The Wrap.

Mirren will appear as Hespera, a character not originally from the comics but whose legacy is rooted as she is the daughter of Atlas, who was one of several of the editor’s characters who was inspired by the titan of ancient Greek mythology Mirren joins the recently occupied cast West Side Story Breakout star Rachel Zegler, although her key role is currently in the chest adorned with lightning bolts.
It has previously been reported that screenwriter Henry Gayden had pledged to return for a sequel to the comedic superhero endeavors with director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) Returns alongside producer Peter Safran and actors Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Marta Milans, Asher Angel, Meagan Good, Faithe Herman and Adam Brody.
In the first movie, we all have a superhero inside of us, it just takes a little magic to bring him out. In Billy Batson’s (Engel) case, this 14 year old foster child can in one word – SHAZAM! – transform into the adult superhero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a child at heart – in a torn, god-like body – Shazam indulges in this adult version of himself, doing what any superpowered teen would do: Have fun with them! Can he fly Does he have x-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning from his hands? Can he skip his social study test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he must quickly master these powers in order to combat the deadly forces of evil brought about by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Stark) are controlled.
The Shazam! Actors are Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson, Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) as The Wizard and Mark Strong (Kingsman) in the role of super villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana. The film also stars Jack Dylan Grazer (IT) as Billy’s best friend and ultimate superhero enthusiast Freddy, part of the foster family that includes Mary, played by Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (This is us); Eugene, played by Ian Chen (Degrees off the boat); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (Hawaii Five-0). Cooper Andrews (the Walking Dead) and Marta Milans (Killer women) play foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez.

Shazam! Anger of the gods is currently planned for release on November 4th, 2022!
