Disney + is adding Genndy Tartakovsky’s Star Wars: Clone Wars in April
As we learned at Disney’s Investor Day presentation in December, Lucasfilm has a ton of new things war of stars TV shows in the works that will encourage fans to renew their Disney + subscriptions for years to come. However, the service also has plenty of space for pre-Disney content, including an earlier look at the events of the Clone Wars. Through ComicBook.com, Disney + has released the full list of new titles to be added to its streaming library next month. And old-school fans will love to know that Genndy Tartakovsly Star Wars: Clone Wars Series made the cut (via SuperHeroHype).
Unlike its CG successor, the original Clone Wars series was presented in 2D animation in a hand-drawn style similar to the Samurai Jack created by Tartakovsky. The show started where Attack of the Clones left off and premiered on Cartoon Network in 2003. 25 episodes were broadcast in three seasons. Although the chapters of the first two seasons lasted five minutes each, the running times of the episodes of the third season were extended to about 15 minutes. The series ended in 2005, two months before Revenge of the Sith hit theaters. All episodes can be streamed from April 2nd.

Thankfully, Clone Wars isn’t the only Star Wars TV project to hit Disney + in the coming weeks. Also on April 2, the platform will take viewers back to 1985 with the Ewoks cartoon series. Fans can stream all 26 episodes of this show. Subscribers can also watch the two live-action Ewok films that aired on ABC in the mid-1980s. This includes 1984 Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure and its sequel, 1985 Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.
After all, the chances that The Star Wars Holiday Special will ever get a Disney + release are slim. Regardless, fans can be content with the next best thing. The animated section of the special, The Story of the Faithful Wookiee, will also appear on the platform on April 2nd. This story, memorably, was Boba Fett’s first appearance before The Empire Strikes Back opened in 1980.
