The negative effect on the film is evident in that it actively looks cheap. What is far more disturbing, however, is what it could mean for the future of Disney + ‘s original features. In contrast to, for example, Noelle or Togo from last year, both of which were originally developed for theatrical releases, Godmothered has always been designed for direct-to-streaming and therefore has a kind of direct-to-video pall of the 90s. If such a massive resource gap in cinema and streaming content persists, it could ultimately mean really terrible things for the future of Disney + exclusives unrelated to Star Wars or Marvel. Given that the platform is expected to be the place where the studio produces more original, non-franchise material, that is sincerely worrying.
