Safety is the real story of Ray McElrathbey (Jay Reeves), a student and soccer player at Clemson University who welcomes his 11-year-old brother Fahmarr (Thaddeus J. Mixson) after his mother’s arrest on drug charges. The problem is that Ray-Ray – as he is called – lives on campus, has to sneak his brother into his dorm and secretly play surrogate dad while at the same time trying to balance the demands of football and school as a scholarship has him brought to Clemson will be lost if he falters on both fronts. It will of course also likely be lost if someone finds out what they’re doing with their little brother. And maybe it would also be nice if he could have something with his fellow student Kaycee (Corinne Foxx) that resembles a social life.
