Doja Cat has been announced as hosting MTV’s 2021 Video Music Awards. Doja announced the news earlier this morning (Aug 25) in an Instagram post which you can find below. The singer has been nominated for five awards at this year’s awards ceremony: Video of the Year, Artist of the Year, Best Collaboration (“Kiss Me More” [ft. SZA]), Best Art Direction (Saweetie ft. Doja Cat: “Best Friend”) and Best Visual Effects (Doja Cat & The Weeknd: “You Right”). The full list of nominees can be found here.
In addition to her hosting duties, Doja Cat will perform at this year’s VMAs, which return to New York City on Sunday, September 12th. The show will air from Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn starting at 8 p.m. Eastern Live. Other cast members include Lorde, Olivia Rodrigo, Lil Nas X, Chloe Bailey (from Chloe x Halle), Shawn Mendes, and more. Doja Cat performed at the Video Music Awards last year, singing a medley of “Say So” and “Like That”.
