You can now read all 80 issues of Punk Planet for free in the internet archive. Founded by writer and publisher Dan Sinker, the Chicago Music and Politics zine was published in print from 1994 to 2007. In addition to music features and reviews, Punk Planet covered topics such as feminism, politics, human rights and work. Topics included interviews with Sleater-Kinney, Nick Cave, Ralph Nader, and countless other cultural icons. You can find the complete archive here.

After Sinker found that the internet archive had independently uploaded high resolution scans of all problems, he reached out to the internet archive and asked them to collect all problems under one URL. The Punk Planet website will be redirected to the archive shortly.

In the years after Punk Planet shut down, Sinker’s tweets were collected for a fake Twitter account by Rahm Emanuel in The F *** ing Epic Twitter Quest by @MayorEmanuel. At the book’s launch event, Jeff Tweedy covered several Black Eyed Peas songs. Sinker is currently co-hosting the Says Who? Podcast.
