In a video recently uploaded to Eidos Montreal’s YouTube channel, the team behind the coming Guardian of the Galaxy Play in detail the music found in it and it looks like they are doing their best to channel the energy of the movie.

According to Senior Audio Director Steve Szczepkowski, trying to strike the right balance between a few key elements in creating the perfect soundtrack was made. Those elements, he said, included a great orchestral score – provided by composer Richard Jacques – to give the game a cinematic feel, and of course a great group of 80s hits that give the game the same Guardian of the Galaxy Feeling.

“Designed to transport gamers back to the ’80s, an impressive selection of pop and rock hits from the decade features the entire game in carefully selected locations,” says Square Enix. “Tracks include music from Iron Maiden, KISS, New Kids On The Block, Rick Astley, Hot Chocolate and more, and there’s still a lot to reveal.”

Szczepkowski also detailed two new features, including a new mechanic called The Huddle. The Huddle allows players to choose a title from Peter Quill’s cassette player before a fight to inspire the team as they battle enemies. Szczepkowski also explained how a brand new band was formed to help narrate the game.

In the upcoming game, Peter Quill takes the name Star-Lord because of his favorite band and not because of his mother, which allows Szczepkowski to form an in-game band called Star-Lord, which has Szczepkowski’s vocals and a rock feel to it Aims to capture the charm that the 80s contained Guardian of the Galaxy Franchise has become known.
