The legendary Lupine the Third Series is coming back. TMS Entertainment announced this Lupine the Third: Part VI will debut later this year to celebrate the series’ 50th anniversary.

The series follows the title thief who also includes the samurai Goemon, the sniper Daisuke Jigen, and the deadly femme Fujiko Mine who isn’t afraid to double-cross it. They are generally followed by Interpol officer Koichi Zenigata, who never gets his husband.

Lupine the Third: Part VI is directed by Eiji Suganama who worked on Lupine III: Prison of the Past. In the meantime, Takahiro Okura will direct the series composition and Hiroki Marufuji (Lupine III: Goodbye Partner) will design characters. Ultimately, Yuji Ohno will compose the music.

The original manga was created by Monkey Punch and inspired five previous anime series as well as the spinoff Lupine III: The woman named Fujiko Mine. There have been several movies, including the critically acclaimed Castle of Cagliostro and over a dozen anime specials. The last anime in the series began in 2018 and aired on Toonami in North America, while it initially aired with subtitles on Crunchyroll.

The first anime adaptation was released on October 24, 1971. Later this year it will be 50 years since it began. While the manga is older than 1967.
