Tonight at the Oscars 2021, HER took home the award for the best original song. Her collaboration with Dernst Emile II and Tiara Thomas “Fight for You” from Judas and the Black Messiah convinced songs from The Trial of the Chicago 7 (“Hear My Voice”), Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (“Husavik” ), Life Ahead (La Vita Davanti a Se) (“Io Sì (seen)”) and One Night in Miami (“Speak Now”).

“I am so, so, so grateful not only to win, but to be part of such an important, important story,” said HER in her acceptance speech. “Thanks to the academy – that’s what I always wanted to say! I have to thank God for giving us these gifts. And my parents, my lovely mother here with me today and my father at home, all the days listening to Sly & the Family Stone and Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye really paid off so thank you, Father. “She challenged musicians and artists to tell the truth in their work.
