Hildur Guðnadóttir – the composer behind Joker and the HBO series Chernobyl – has unveiled her next project: Hildur and her husband and co-worker Sam Slater wrote the original soundtrack for the upcoming video game Battlefield 2042, the latest installment in the long-running Battlefield First -People Shooter franchise, as reported by Billboard.
“We’re excited to be writing our first video game score for Battlefield 2042 and partnering with Electronic Arts,” said Hildur and Slater in a statement. “It was a deeply creative experience to dive into this world and create a truly unique and disruptive musical environment for the game.” Lakeshore Records will digitally release the 2042 soundtrack, and a vinyl edition from Lakeshore and Invada is in preparation.
Hildur Guðnadóttir’s Joker Score earned her the Grammy for Best Soundtrack in February and the Oscar for Best Original Music last year. Her music for Chernobyl also resulted in her winning the Nordic Music Prize in March 2020. Battlefield 2042 will be released on October 22nd for PC / PS5 / Xbox.
