Kristen Stewart and Mackenzie Davis are especially amazing, but everyone in the cast is really great.
Just as the set-up of the plot is familiar to movie buffs, one can see that there are some trope-esque characters in the ensemble, with Harper’s sisters each being a total madman and a nervous nightmare – not to mention John, who continues the tradition of the “Gay best friend”. It might be a wink in less good hands, but the script makes them all fit neatly into the story that is being told, and the cast is excellent. Alison Brie’s Sloan is machete and vicious in her efforts to knock Harper down, and Mary Hollands Jane is hysterical in her desperate attempts to be noticed by absolutely everyone. Dan Levy also becomes the happiest season’s secret weapon, proving to be one of the worst pet sitters in the world while Abby is away and a terrible and fantastic soundboard.
