HBO Max released the officer Hacks Trailer for the upcoming comedy series with Emmy award winner Jean Smart and newcomer Hannah Einbinder. The video shows a millennial comedy writer finding an unlikely mentor in a seasoned comedian who must turn to a younger crowd to save her Las Vegas residence. The series is expected to debut on Thursday May 13th with the first two episodes.

Hacks Explore a dark mentorship that forms between Deborah Vance, a legendary Las Vegas comedian, and a legitimate, outcast 25-year-old who was involuntarily recruited by Deborah’s agent to help her write jokes that appeal to younger audiences .
The series is directed by Hannah Einbinder and Frasier alum Jean Smart, who previously received their eighth Emmy nominations for their acclaimed performance in HBO’s limited series Guardian. They are regularly joined by Carl Clemons-Hopkins and recurring guest stars Kaitlin Olson, Christopher McDonald, Paul W. Downs, Mark Indelicato, Poppy Liu, Johnny Sibilly, Meg Stalter and Rose Abdoo.

Hacks is created and produced by Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello and Jen Statsky, who also act as showrunners. Executive producers are Emmy winners Michael Schur for Fremulon, David Miner for 3 Arts Entertainment and Morgan Sackett.
