John Wick Creator develops Dungeons & Dragons for television
Obviously, dragons are all the rage right now. Later this year, Paramount will finally roll out the long-running reboot of the Dungeons & Dragons movie on tape. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hasbro and eOne plan to expand the reach of the franchise to the small screen as well. A new D&D TV series is currently in the works. John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstad is writing the script.
The report makes no mention of whether the series will have anything to do with the movie in 2022. However, given Hollywood’s current obsession with starting new franchises on multiple platforms, it is likely that the two projects will occupy the same universe. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are leading the reboot, which was recently secured Wonder Woman 1984Chris Pine as its leading man. Unfortunately, the identity of his character remains unknown.

Whatever Kolstad’s plans, he’s not the only one making his own D & D. Pitch now. THR also notes that eOne is looking for other writers to “develop various projects” that take place in the Dungeons and Dragons universe. However, whether this only includes new TV shows is still a mystery.
In addition to the John Wick series, Kolstad recently wrote for The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Last year he co-founded the quibi series Die Hart with Kevin Hart and John Travolta. Kolstad is also included to write some upcoming video game adaptations for television, including a live-action Hitman series and a Splinter Cell anime series.
