Kacey Musgraves has announced her new album Star-Crossed. The sequel to the 2018 Golden Hour is out on September 10th (via Interscope Records and UMG Nashville). Musgraves produced the title track for the album’s opening with Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk, the Golden Hour writing and production team. Musgraves will release a 50-minute star-crossed film on Paramount + on September 10th. The film is directed by Bardia Zeinali and stars Musgraves with cameos by Eugene Levy, Princess Nokia, and others. “We wanted it to feel cinematic and epic without affecting the heart and emotions,” Zeinali said in a statement, “to feel amazing and exalted and tell her story through the lens of art and fashion.” Check out a trailer below.

Musgraves Star-Crossed recorded in just under three weeks in Nashville earlier this year, according to a press release. The album is described as “a three-act modern tragedy” that tells “an extremely personal journey of heartbreak and healing”.

After Musgraves won Grammy Album of the Year for Golden Hour, Musgraves contributed a new song called “All Is Found” to the Frozen 2 soundtrack and hosted her own Christmas special for Amazon. Last year she gave the Golden Hours “Oh, What a World” a new touch on the occasion of Earth Day.
