Kitbag: Apple Studios Commits to Napoleon Bonaparte Epic by Ridley Scott & Joaquin Phoenix
According to the deadline, Apple Studios will finance and produce the biopic epic Napoleon Bonaparte Duffel bagDirected by Oscar nominee Ridley Scott (The Martian, gladiator, Black Hawk Down) and with Oscar winner Joaquin Phoenix (joker, The master, gladiator) as the French emperor of the 19th century. As previously reported, the title of the film comes from the saying: “There is a general staff hidden in every soldier’s pocket.”

“Napoleon is a man I’ve always been fascinated by,” Scott told the point of sale. “He came out of nowhere to rule everything – but all along he was waging a romantic war with his adulterous wife Josephine. He conquered the world to try to win her love, and when he couldn’t, he conquered her to destroy her, destroying himself in the process. “
“No actor could ever portray Napoleon like Joaquin,” continued Scott. “He created one of the most complex emperors in film history gladiatorand we will create another with his Napoleon. It’s a brilliant script by David Scarpa, and today there is no better partner than Apple to bring such a story to a global audience. “
Directed by Scott, Duffel bag is described as an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his quick, ruthless rise to emperor, seen through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and a true love, Josephine. The film will capture Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition and “amazing strategic mind as an exceptional military leader and war visionary”.
David Scarpa (All the money in the world) writes the script for the 20th Century Studios project produced by Scott and Kevin Walsh for Scott Free.

Scott and Kevin Walsh will be producing the project for Scott Free. Production of the film is scheduled to begin in the UK in early 2022.
