Legendary for developing a film adaptation of History’s Ancient Aliens series
Legendary and Counterbalance Entertainment are in the process of developing a film version of Ancient aliens, based on History Channel’s longstanding science fiction documentaries. The project comes from Cobra Kai Creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg who are executive producers through their Counterbalance banner. In addition to producing, Heald has committed to directing the film from a script written by Luke Ryan.
“It’s incredibly special to play my first feature with the same dream team that believed in me very early in my career.” Heald said in a statement. (via deadline) “My partners and I are thrilled to be producing this epic story with Mary, Cale and Luke. For me personally, it’s a homecoming – and another bold move for Counterbalance Entertainment. “

More details about the plot and characters of the film are still under wraps, but it is described as a two-handed, world-spanning adventure of ancient sites and artifacts that explores the theories and issues of popular documentaries.
Executive produced by the late Kevin Burns, Ancient aliens debuted on the History Channel in 2010 and has aired nearly 200 episodes for 16 seasons. Narrated by Robert Clotworthy, the documentary-style series explores theories about the existence of extraterrestrial beings who visited Earth in ancient times and supposedly influenced many historical events and cultures there.

The Ancient aliens The film marks the full-length directorial debut of Heald, who previously directed several episodes of Cobra Kai That’s currently in production for the upcoming fourth season. The project is being produced by Luke Ryan and Jon Jashni as executive producers.
