Following the recent inclusion of Domhnall Gleeson as John Dean, Deadline expresses this game of Thrones Veterinarian Lena Headey has signed up for a lead role in the upcoming limited series entitled The plumbers of the White House, which revolves around the Watergate scandal. This project will also reunite Headey with HBO, which produces with wiip. Gleeson and Headey will join the previously announced cast members Woody Harrelson (Zombie Land: double tap) and Justin Theroux (Maniac), both of whom have previously collaborated with the Premium Network in their respective acclaimed dramas True detective and The rest.

The Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress will play the role of Dorothy Hunt, a mother of four and an active CIA asset. Dorothy tries to keep her family together while she becomes embroiled in her husband’s disastrous misadventures. The series also marks Headey’s return to television after two years game of Thrones had completed its eight-season run in 2019.

The plumbers of the White House The focus is on E. Howard Hunt (Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Theroux), who planned the Watergate burglary that toppled Nixon’s presidency, and the political saboteurs of the former president and the overthrow of the presidency they protect wanted to investigate. It is considered to be one of the greatest political scandals in American history.

The 5-episode series is created and produced by Veep Alums Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, with David Mandel as director. Executive producers are Harrelson, Theroux, Mandel, Ruben Fleischer, Gregg Fienberg, David Bernad from The District and Frank Rich as well as Paul Lee, Nne Ebong and Mark Roybal from wiip and Len Amato from Crash & Salvage.

Interestingly, Matt Ross, Sam Esmail and Robbie Pickering are also developing a limited edition series based on the Starz Watergate scandal. Sean Pean, Julia Roberts and Dan Steven lead the Starz project.
