Lewis Pullmann (Bad times at El Royale, Catch-22, Top Gun: Maverick), Son of independence Day and The sinner Star Bill Pullman, starred as Ben Mears in the film adaptation of Stephen King’s film by filmmaker Gary Dauberman Salem’s lot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Production of the film is slated to begin in Boston in September.

In the 1975 horror novel, writer Ben Mears returns to the city of Jerusalem’s Lot (Salem’s Lot for short) to write a book about a house that has haunted him since childhood only to find his isolated hometown infested by vampires . As the vampires claim more victims, Mears convinces a small group of believers to fight the undead.

Dauberman directs and writes the script for producer James Wan (Conjure up Universe, Saw Franchise). This will be the latest King project that Dauberman adapted after writing the scripts for 2017 IT and 2019 IT chapter two, with both films directed by Andy Muschietti.
Wan will produce Salem’s Lot along with his Atomic Monster partner Michael Clear, Vertigos Roy Lee and Mark Wolper. Dauberman, who worked with Wan on Annabelle and The Nun in 2014 and made his directorial debut on the sequel Annabelle Comes Home, will serve as executive producer. Executive producers also include Michael Bederman, Judson Scott of Atomic Monster, and Andrew Childs of Vertigo.

Salem’s lot was previously adapted in a miniseries in 1979 directed by Tobe Hooper, with David Soul playing the role of Ben Mears. The film was followed by the 1987 film A return to Salem’s property by Larry Cohen. In 2004, the story was adapted into another TV miniseries starring Rob Lowe as Ben Mears. This adaptation was written by Peter Filardi, who is currently the co-creator, co-writer, and executive producer on Epix’s Stephen King series Chapel attendant, based on King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot.
