A 46-year-old man fell to his death at a Dead & Company concert on Friday (Aug. 20), Variety and Deadline report. The concert took place at Citi Field in New York City, where the man fell from a balcony in the stadium. A spokesman for the New York Police Department told Deadline that the man’s injuries were “consistent with falling from an elevated position.”
Variety says first responders were called to Citi Field around 9:05 p.m. on Friday evening. The man was transported from the venue to New York’s Presbyterian Hospital in Queens in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead in the hospital, according to Variety. Mets Events, who orchestrate the programming at Citi Field, released the following statement to Variety:
We are aware of a tragic incident which unfortunately resulted in a death last night. Our sincere and sincere condolences go to the relatives of the participants.
