A new album by hip hop super group Czarface and late rap legend MF DOOM has been released. The 10-track super what? features guest appearances by DMC (by Run-DMC), Del the Funky Homosapien, Kendra Morris and Godforbid. Listen to the LP below.
Czarface announced Super What? Earlier this week on her Instagram it was said that the new album was “recorded and is expected to be released in April 2020”. Czarface continued:
When COVID-19 struck and the world stopped, we decided to pull it out, focus on family, and tweak a few items on it. What you will hear was finalized, mixed and mastered in the summer of 2020 and it is our honor and privilege to share it with you on Friday. I speak for everyone involved when I say we were incredibly lucky to have worked with DOOM. He was a unique, never-to-be-duplicated presenter, producer, and visionary. We wish peace and healing to his family, friends, and all who are touched by the gifts he has shared with the planet. MF DOOM FOREVER.
The artwork of Super What? Was created by Lamour Supreme, the co-creator of Czarface. Czarface and MF DOOM last teamed up on Czarface Meets Metal Face from 2018.
On December 31, 2020, it was announced that MF DOOM had died two months earlier at the age of 49. No cause of death was disclosed. Numerous honors from the music world followed the news, including reminder words from Madlib, Tyler, the Creator, El-P and others. Last month, an alternate version of MF DOOM’s “Dead Bent” was released as a non-fungible token (NFT), with half of the proceeds going to DOOM’s children.
