CONNECTED: Interview: Dave Bautista was drawn to the emotional story of the Army of the Dead
Army of the Dead takes place after a zombie outbreak that left Las Vegas in ruins and cut itself off from the rest of the world. When Scott Ward, an exiled Vegas zombie war hero now turning burger on the outskirts of what he now calls hometown, is approached by casino boss Bly Tanaka, this is the ultimate suggestion: break into the of Zombie-infested quarantine zone to retrieve $ 200 million from a vault under the strip before the city is destroyed by the government in 32 hours. Driven by the hope that the payoff could pave the way to a reconciliation with his estranged daughter, Kate, Ward accepts the challenge and puts together a ragged team of experts for the robbery.
This includes Maria Cruz, an ace mechanic and Ward’s old friend; Vanderohe, a zombie killing machine; Marianne Peters, a cynical helicopter pilot; Mikey Guzman, a bust influencer, and Chambers, his ride-or-die; Martin, the casino’s chief security officer; an evil warrior known as the Coyote who recruited Burt Cummings, a slimy security guard; and German safe cracker named Dieter. Scott finds an unexpected emotional hurdle when Kate joins the expedition in search of Geeta, a mother who disappeared in town. With a ticking clock, a notoriously impenetrable vault, and a smarter, faster horde of alpha zombies approaching, in the biggest raid ever, only one thing is certain: survivors take it all.
