Video game films tend to get a bad rap as this particular genre of films keeps frustrating fans of real estate like Monster Hunter. Whether it’s a distraction from the source material or a misunderstanding of tone and execution in the cinematic medium, game adaptations are sometimes unfairly disapproved in general. However, there are a few films that are the exception to the popular “rule,” and writer / director Paul WS Anderson’s Monster Hunter is the latest to be deemed safe not to be classified as a stereotypical video game film. Both followers and non-fans should be able to enjoy this surprisingly exhilarating adventure set to end 2020 on a high monster killing grade.
