One of the most popular rivalries in history is rekindled when Jerry moves into New York’s premier hotel on the eve of the “Wedding of the Century” and forces the desperate planner of the event to hire Tom to get rid of him. The cat and mouse fight that followed threatens to destroy her career, the wedding and possibly the hotel itself. But an even bigger problem soon arises: a devilishly ambitious employee who plots against all three. A breathtaking mix of classic animation and live action, Tom and Jerry’s new big-screen adventure breaks new ground for legendary characters and forces them to do the unthinkable. Work together to save the day.
The film follows Chloë Grace Moretz (Suspiria) ‘s Kayla, a new employee at the extravagant Park Hotel, who hires Tom, a broken alley cat, to get rid of Jerry the mouse to keep her job. Michael Peña (Ant man & the wasp) has signed up as Terrance, the hotel’s deputy general manager, who acts as a tyrant for Kayla and comes into conflict with his new employee when she impresses upper management with her fight against the animal duo.
In addition to Moretz and Peña, Rob Delaney (Deadpool 2), Colin Jost (Saturday night live) and Ken Jeong (Crazy rich Asians). Tim Story is a director for Warner Bros. based on a script by Kevin Costello. Story Company’s Sharla Sumpter Bridgett will also produce the project, while Story, Adam Goodman, Steven Harding, Sam Register, Jesse Ehrman and Allison Abbate will be executive producers.
The film will feature an animated (and silent) Tom and Jerry whose gimmicks will take place in a live action world. This is the first in a series of similarly designed projects by WB with the others Space Jam 2 by producers Ryan Coogler, Maverick Carter, and LeBron James; Scooby Doowho is currently overseeing Chris Columbus; and a Wile E. Coyote versus ACME Hybrid feature with Chris McKay from the LEGO universe as creative supervisor.
