On April 16, Paul McCartney will release McCartney III Imagined – a collection of covers, remixes and reinterpretations of songs from the 2020 McCartney III album. After Dominic Fike shared a version of “The Kiss of Venus” today, McCartney and Beck released a new version of “Find My Way”. Hear it below.
Beck said in a statement:
I remember hanging out with Paul and his wife Nancy a few years ago and mentioning Nancy that she wanted to go dancing before she called it a night. We ended up at a club in West Hollywood, and I remember realizing that Paul and Nancy managed to really enjoy themselves more than anyone else on the dance floor. Last year when he asked me to remix this track, I remembered that night and wanted to try and regain that amazing spirit that I felt as I watched him on the dance floor … sort of a little homage to Paul “in his groove “. Then when I heard the falsetto voice on Paul’s original track, I wanted to lean into something really casual and funky – I pulled out my Hofner (of course) and dropped a few bass lines … and everything came to life from there. The best part of the whole experience, however, came a week after I submitted the remix when Paul called to tell me he’d been dancing to the track in his kitchen all week.
In addition to Beck and Fike, III Imagined includes contributions from Phoebe Bridgers, St. Vincent, Blood Orange, Anderson Paak, Damon Albarn, Josh Homme, Khruangbin, Robert “3D” Del Naja from Massive Attack, Ed O’Brien from Radiohead and Idris Elba.
