Director Macon Blair took to Twitter to confirm the production of Legendary’s upcoming reboot of the classic superhero comedy The poisonous avenger was officially completed in Bulgaria after almost two months of shooting. The film is directed by Golden Globe and Emmy winner Peter Dinklage, who will take on the title role previously played by Mitch Cohen and Mark Torgl in the original 1984 film.

That Poisonous avenger reboot is described as a contemporary reinterpretation of Troma Entertainment’s 1984 classic dark cult comedy that undermines the superhero genre much like Ryan Reynolds. Dead Pool. Jacob Tremblay joins Dinklage (room, Good boys), Taylor Paige (Ma Rainey’s black bottom), Kevin Bacon (X-Men: First class), Elijah Wood (Lord of the Rings Films) and Julia Davis (camping).

According to Deadline, the remake will revolve around a struggling Jedermann who has been turned into a mutated freak after being pushed into a vat of toxic waste. He must become an underdog hero in order to save his son, friends, and the community from the forces of corruption and greed.

The upcoming Poisonous avenger reboot was written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Macon Blair (Green space, Logan Lucky, Hold the darkness). It is produced by the original directors Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz for Troma Entertainment, while Alex Garcia and Jay Ashenfelter oversee the development of Legendary.
