Run the Jewels and GZA received a phone call in Washington DC this week during an impeachment trial against former President Donald Trump. MEP Stacey Plaskett, a Democrat representing the US Virgin Islands, drew lines from Run the Jewels ‘Early’ and GZA’s ‘Breaker, Breaker’ in her remarks on Wednesday (February 10). She confirmed her nod to the artists in a tweet. See their comments below.

In response to Plaskett’s speech on Twitter, Run the Jewels’ el-P joked, “I can’t say I didn’t see it coming. Ok, I didn’t see it coming. “Early” was released in 2014 in Run the Jewels 2, while “Breaker, Breaker” was taken from GZA’s 1999 album Beneath the Surface.
