When the Rolling Stones go on their No Filter tour of the US this fall, drummer Charlie Watts won’t be there. A spokesperson for the band announced that doctors recommended “rest and relaxation” after a successful medical procedure.
“For once, my timing was a little off,” Watts said in a statement. “I’m working hard to get fully fit, but today, on the advice of the experts, I accepted that it would take a while. After all the suffering of the fans through Covid, I really don’t want the many RS fans holding tickets for this tour to be disappointed by another postponement or cancellation. That’s why I asked my great friend Steve Jordan to step in for me. “
Jordan added, “It’s an absolute honor and privilege to be Charlie’s understudy and I look forward to rehearsing with Mick, Keith and Ronnie. Nobody will be happier than me to give up my place on the drum riser as soon as Charlie tells me it’s done. “
