Sacred Bones has announced the release of the debut album by a new artist named Luca Yupanqui. If you’ve never heard of her, it’s because she’s just a toddler. Her debut, Sounds of the Unborn, was recorded in the womb. With the help of “Biosonic MIDI technology”, she converted her movements into musical notes that were sent to various synthesizers. Check out the music video for the first song below: “V4.3 pt. 2.” The full album will be released on April 2nd.
Luca’s parents are Psychic Ills bassist Elizabeth Hart and producer Iván Diaz Mathé, who previously worked with Lee “Scratch” Perry. According to a press release, Sounds of the Unborn was recorded in five-hour sessions. During the editing and mixing process, the two edited and mixed “the results of the sessions, respecting the sounds produced and trying to intervene as little as possible so that Luca’s message could exist in its raw form.”
