After suicide frontman Alan Vega passed away in 2016, his friends and co-workers began compiling a plethora of unreleased material. Sacred Bones has announced plans to bring a number of archive releases out of the Vega Vault. First up is Mutator – an album of material recorded in New York between 1996 and 1998 with his wife and frequent contributor Liz Lamere. It’s April 23rd. The first single “Nike Soldier” comes with a music video by Jacqueline Castel. Check it out below.
“In all of his artistic expressions, Alan had a unique ability to draw from an eclectic mix of cultural references and turn them upside down,” Lamere said in a statement. “If we asked him to give us a quote about ‘Nike Soldier’ he would say,” Just do it. “
