Paramount has officially given the go-ahead Bold: rise of the pink ladies, a prequel series to the 1978 classic, according to a recent report from Deadline.

The series, which supposedly leads to Paramount +, will have a 10-episode sequence and has apparently been in the works for several weeks. Paramount Television Studios made this the company’s first official script series contract since President Nicole Clemens assumed an executive role as President of the Paramount + Original Scripted Series.
The prequel is set to play four years before the original fat, with the story centered on four tired, outcast girls who dare to have fun on their own terms, which in turn sets off a moral panic that triggers and changes Rydell High forever. Of course, the original film showed these four girls as seniors in high school, with Rizzo, Frenchy, Marty, and Jan serving as members of the Pink Ladies. However, the report notes that the spin-off series will actually feature new characters.

The prequel is written and produced by creator Annabel Oakes (Atypical), with Oakes also acting as the showrunner. Marty Bowen will serve as executive producer through Temple Hill, with Erik Feig also serving as executive producer through Picturestart.
