According to Billboard, Sin Quirin is no longer the guitarist for the industrial metal band Ministry. The news comes over a year after Quirin was accused of having sex by two women more than 15 years ago when they were 15 and 16, respectively.
Quirin reportedly announced his departure on Friday via a Facebook post that now appears to have been deleted and made no reference to the allegations. Quirin reportedly claimed he was leaving the band to focus on his health, personal life, and other projects. A department official also did not refer to the allegations when he confirmed to Billboard that Quirin is no longer in the band.
The news of Quirin’s exit from the band comes as the Ministry prepares to go on tour this fall. Pitchfork has asked representatives of the ministry for comments.
When the allegations were first published, Quirin issued a denial through his lawyer. “Mr. Quirin denies having ever had a sexual relationship with anyone under the age of the majority,” wrote attorney Randolph Ortega. Ortega also alleged that Al Jourgensen of the ministry was “unaware of any possible nefarious activities by a member of the ministry during his respective tenure (s) had with the band including, but not limited to, Mr. Sin Quirin “.
