When co-writer / director Adam Mason’s thriller Songbird was announced, the world seemed against the idea from the start. Taking the COVID-19 pandemic and turning it into a fictional thriller was something many feared as the move was full of opportunities to venture into insensitive territory. In a way, Songbird’s reality is a hit, as the Michael Bay-produced film isn’t the deaf-mute virus thriller many were expecting. At the same time, however, this gain is associated with costs, as the overall picture in its execution falls flat despite the fascinating services.
