Great podcasts are easy to love. So why not just listen? We know that you can adjust your listening time anywhere you can – for example on your way to the cinema or when you’re on your way to bed – so we’ve added a few extras to Spreaker Podcast Radio for iOS and Android making things easier: introducing new ones Playback settings!
Sometimes inconveniences like time constraints are annoying, but a great podcast listening experience means time works around you, not the other way around. Now a new one Sleep timer and Playback speed Settings help you change these limits.
Listening to a podcast while falling asleep is a completely underrated experience. It’s your end-of-the-day entertainment that has a positive impact on things and, thanks to soothing podcaster voices, is a perfect way to trigger your ASMR (ASMR = Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response; also known as that tingly feeling you get on your scalp and neck to have ). There is one minor setback, however: falling asleep and completely draining your device’s battery before the alarm goes off.
The new sleep timer will help you save there! The timer will turn your episode off after the specified time you set it to. For example, if you know you will fall asleep in about five minutes, set the timer to automatically turn off your episode with the “+ 5 minutes” option.
To set the timer:
In the episode view, tap OPTIONS under the search bar (on iOS, you can tap the settings icon in the top right corner on Android). You are in the playback settings. To start the timer, tap on one of the available time frames (+ 5 minutes, + 15 minutes or + 30 minutes). To buy more time, you can tap one of these options until you reach your ideal amount (so twice + 5 minutes to get 10 minutes). The timer starts counting down immediately.
The length of the podcasts and the time you have available to listen are not always that compatible. For example, it takes about 20 minutes to get to the cinema, but the present episode takes about 25 minutes. You don’t have to dangle those extra 5 minutes though! Use the playback speed settings to adjust the length of a podcast for the time you want. Speeding things up will allow you to play through as many episodes as you want in a short amount of time.
Of course, you can also go slower. If the podcaster you are hearing is a quick shooter then you must be missing out on a joke here or there. If you slow down the playback speed, you will find a much more decipherable episode.
Just like with the sleep timer, you can set the playback speed in the episode view and tap OPTIONS in the search bar (again on iOS and Android you can tap the settings icon in the top right corner). Below the sleep timer you can see the different playback speeds that you can choose from. Just tap the yellow dot and drag it to the speed you want. You can do this while you tune into the podcast to hear the change in real time and get a better feel for what sounds best.
We’ve added another small but great feature to Spreaker Podcast Radio: the ability to enable or disable notifications for each individual preferred podcast. That way, you won’t be overwhelmed with numerous notifications. You will only get updates on the podcasts that you really love.
In the Favorites section, tap the podcast whose notification settings you want to change. Then tap the Info (iOS) or INFO (Android) tab. From there you can turn notifications on or off.
Listen to podcasts the way you want with Spreaker Podcast Radio’s new playback settings! Update your app now to get the new features, whether you are using an iOS or Android device. Then let us know what you think!
