Last week, Sufjan Stevens announced Convocations, a new five volume collection of instrumental music to be released in weekly installments. The first volume, entitled Meditations, came out last week. Now he’s shared a title from the second volume called Lamentations. Hear “Lamentation II” below.
The full convocations will be available on May 6th. A physical release is planned for August. Reflecting the five stages of grief, the album pays homage to Stevens’ biological father, who died two days after the 2020 release of The Ascension.
