4AD celebrated its 40th anniversary as a label last year and announced the new cover compilation Bills & Aches & Blues as a belated celebration. The collection will be released digitally on April 2, with vinyl LPs and CDs to follow on July 23 and a deluxe vinyl box set to be released later this year. The first five songs from the compilation are out now – hear Tkay Maidza on Pixies, the Breeders on His Name Is Alive, US Girls on the birthday party, Aldous Harding on Deerhunter and Maria Somerville on Air Miami.
Other artists in the compilation are Big Thief, Tune-Yards, Future Islands, dry cleaning, Jenny Hval, Bradford Cox, Helado Negro, Bing & Ruth and SOHN. The full track listing can be found below.
The first year Bills & Aches & Blues makes profits goes to the Harmony Project – a Los Angeles-based extra-curricular program designed to help communities without equitable access to art or music classes.
