Last month, the Flaming Lips staged their first socially distant live show in their hometown of Oklahoma City for an audience trapped in space bubbles. You have now announced two more gigs: They will take place on March 12th and 13th at the Criterion in Oklahoma City. According to a press release, “local health and safety standards will be strictly adhered to for this live Lips event in full production.” Tickets and more information can be found on the venue’s website.
Wayne Coyne played in a space bubble during concerts for a long time. Ahead of the live debut of their COVID-safe setup, the Flaming Lips revealed their bubbly audience tech while appearing on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and in videos for “Brother Eye” and “Assassins of Youth” from their 2020 album American Head .
