The Goon Sax, founded in Brisbane, has announced Mirror II, their third studio album and the first for the new Matador label. It was recorded with longtime PJ Harvey producer John Parish at Geoff Barrow’s Invada Studios in Bristol and is slated for release on July 9th. Below is the music video for the lead single “In the Stone”.

In a press release, band member Louis Forster shared a statement about the origins of “In the Stone”:

“In the Stone” is set in Berlin, where I moved with my then partner shortly after I finished school and recorded our last album. We’re not talking in late 2017. We’ve both explored ourselves – accepting each other’s changes and celebrating flow – but also reckoning with the complicated need for solid confidence and the person we love. Musically, the song was influenced by what was playing in the background of our conversations, which often took place in Ubers, supermarkets, outside of parties, etc. As such, it’s probably more of an unconsciously absorbed modern pop influence than anything we’ve done as a band.
