Amazon Studios has announced that the production of the upcoming first season of their highly anticipated Lord of the rings In New Zealand the series is finally over. Shooting also comes with the release of the first official picture from the untitled series, which you can check out below and give us a glimpse into the first episode.

The new epic drama brings JRR Tolkien’s fabled Second Age of Middle-earth history to screens for the first time. Beginning in a time of relative peace, thousands of years before the events of JRR Tolkiens The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Books, the series follows an ensemble of familiar and new characters who face the long-feared reappearance of evil in Middle-earth.

The series is developed and produced by JD Payne and Patrick McKay, who act as showrunners. Even before the first season went into production, Amazon Studios granted the project a second season extension.
