Phil Elverum has announced a new release called Microphones that does not contain music. Foghorn tape is “literally just the loud ribbon loop of a foghorn”, as Elverum writes in his PW Elverum & Sun webshop. He adds that the recording “is actually a distant, curved bass playing through in the background of the glow pt. 2 ‘and other microphone music. Ambient noise. Empty ocean. “

Foghorn Tape is out March 5th and will be available on clear vinyl, limited to 999 copies. No digital option will be released. You can order a copy here.

Last winter Elverum published a book with 761 photos entitled Microphones in 2020 Silent Version. The accompanying album was released in August along with a 44-minute short film. Elverum’s previous album under the name Microphones was Mount Eerie in 2003.
