The Weeknd has announced that its debut mixtape House of Balloons will come to the streaming service for the first time this Sunday (March 21st) with approved original samples to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The original House of Balloons, which was released online for free, included an Aaliyah sample for “What You Need,” a Cocteau Twins sample for “The Knowing,” a Siouxsie sample, and the Banshees’ “Happy House” for House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls ”and two different beach house examples.
Last week the Weeknd announced that he would boycott the Grammys in the future and refuse to participate in his work or submit it for consideration after his 2020 album After Hours failed to receive nominations at this year’s ceremony. He recently performed a cross-career set on Super Bowl LV that will be the subject of an upcoming documentary on SHOWTIME.
